2022 Student Artist in Focus – Zoe Kamarinos

Ever since she was little, Zoe has enjoyed expressing herself through her art. She has always been inspired by her parents’ travels to various counties around the world. Her aspiration to travel and meet people from different cultures and places has greatly influenced her work.

Zoe loves using colour in innovative ways as she finds it allows her to grasp the personality and emotional focus of the artwork. She especially enjoys painting portraits to reflect and portray the person’s mood and personality with her works focusing on themes of culture and identity. She uses a range of mediums with her favourites being gouache and oil paints. Deliberate with her brushstrokes, she layers colours to create sophisticated works in her own style.

Immanuel Lutheran College offered Zoe an Arts-Visual Scholarship in 2018 and continues to proudly support her in this field. Zoe has been recognised in many competitions including the Young Archie competition, Noosa Portrait Prize and her entry in the Immanuel Arts Festival last year was awarded ‘Best Work’ in the Years 10-12 category for her oil painting ‘Tibetan Prayer.’

Zoe continues to learn and practice her skills through weekly classes at the Art School Co. where she has been studying for seven years. Just recently, Zoe accepted an offer from this school to teach their aspiring primary school students.
