ILC Student Conditions of Entry

ILC STUDENT CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 2022
Entries are now invited for the 2022 Immanuel Arts Festival to be held at Immanuel Lutheran College from 19 to 22 May 2022.

The Festival is now in its 41st year and promotes visual, creative and performance art within the Sunshine Coast community. Entry into the Student Art category is open to all students on the Sunshine Coast, not just those from ILC. The format for the 2022 Immanuel Arts Festival will be as follows:
• An exhibition and sale of paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography, wearable and creative arts will be
   held at Immanuel Lutheran College, A. J. Jericho Stadium, Wises Road, Buderim
• The Festival will open with the Opening Night on Thursday 19 May, including announcement of awards. This is a
    licensed event and therefore children are unable to attend. Parents are welcome to purchase tickets to attend.
    Award winners will be notified by email and presented with their prize at a future school assembly.
• The Exhibition will be open to the public from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 May. Tickets are $5.00 per adult and
    children are free.
• All work must be the student artist’s unaided work (please no parental tampering), completed within the last 12
    months and must be the property of the artist.
• The mezzanine level of the gallery will be dedicated to displaying student art.
• Students are welcome to submit work as ‘Not For Sale’ however, if a piece is available for sale, it will incur a
    10% commission to be paid to Immanuel Lutheran College.
HOW TO ENTER
1) Read the Conditions of Entry. Please note this year we have changed the prizes from previous years.
2) ILC Students are not required to submit an online entry prior to dropping off their artwork.
3) Primary School students will be invited to drop off their artwork between Monday 9 and Friday 13 May. At this
    time, entry details will be recorded by the Arts Festival committee. See information below.
4) Secondary School students will be invited to discuss their submission/s with Mr Elliot and Ms Moor in Visual Art
     and drop their work off between Monday 9 and Friday 13 May. At this time, entry details will be recorded by Mr
     Elliot and Ms Moor. See information below.
5) Entry to the Arts Festival is FREE for all Immanuel Lutheran College students.
6) No artwork or changes to artwork will be accepted after 10.00am on Friday 13 May 2022.
DELIVERY OF ARTWORK FOR ILC STUDENTS
Primary School:
• Students are not required to fill out an online entry prior to submitting their artwork.
• Students can submit a maximum of three (3) pieces of art in any 2D or 3D medium (i.e. painting, drawing,
    photography, sculpture). Entry for ILC students is FREE.
• Students will need to drop their artwork to the Visual Art classroom (near the PS Tuckshop) between 8.00-
    8.30am on one of the following days:
    o Monday 9 May
    o Tuesday 10 May
    o Wednesday 11 May
    o Thursday 12 May
    o Friday 13 May
• When students are dropping off their artwork to the Visual Art classroom on the above dates, they will be given
    a label to attach to the back of their artwork and they will need to write their name, class, artwork title and the
    selling price or ‘Not For Sale’ if they are choosing not to sell their work.
Secondary School:
• Secondary students are not required to fill out an online entry prior to submitting their artwork.
• Students can submit a maximum of three (3) pieces of art in any 2D or 3D medium (i.e. painting, photography,
    drawing, sculpture). Entry for ILC students is FREE.
• Students will need to drop their artwork to Ms Moor or Mr Elliot in the Visual Art classroom in the Eucalypt
    Building between Monday 9 and Friday 13 May.
• No artwork or changes to artwork will be accepted after 12.00pm on Friday 13 May 2022.
• When students are dropping off their artwork to the Visual Art classroom, they will be given a label to attach to
    the back of their artwork and they will need to write their name, class and the selling price or ‘Not For Sale’ if
    they are choosing not to sell their work.
COLLECTION OF ARTWORK FOR ILC STUDENTS
Unsold works will be returned to the student’s classroom (Primary School) or the Visual Art classroom (Secondary School) on Monday 23 May. No works may be removed prior to the conclusion of the Festival.
STUDENT FILM ENTRY
Films must be submitted to Mr Hancock in the Secondary School by Friday 13 May.
The winner will be the Best Short Film as per the judging criteria, regardless of age. Films should be from 1-8 minutes long and must be submitted on USB. Films must be classified with an appropriate viewer rating (i.e. G, PG, M15+). The judge will assess each film against the criteria below:
•  Cinematography – Picture composition, shot style, use of light or surroundings
•  Technical – Camera use, sound quality, use of music/FX, editing, props and costume
•   Story – Engaging, comprehensible, suitability to age category and use of characters
COMPLIANCE
Submission of artwork is acknowledgement that provided information is correct, entry/entries are the artist’s original work and bona fide property, and the artist agrees to abide by the Conditions of Entry of the Immanuel Arts Festival.
ENTRY
All student artists must gain parent/guardian permission to enter the Festival. Student artists may submit up to three pieces in the Student Art category. Works in any medium are accepted if they are non-perishable and not offensive. The selection of works to be exhibited will be entirely at the discretion of the Festival Committee. All entries may not be selected for display.
COMMISSION
Immanuel Lutheran College will retain 10% of the indicated selling price for any works sold. Prize money and payment for items sold will be directly credited into a nominated bank account by 30 June.
PUBLICITY
Images of works submitted may be used for the purpose of advertising and marketing for current and future Festivals, including print and visual media.
LIABILITY
If a student is concerned about the security of their entry, they should contact the Festival Convenor. It is a condition of insurance that all artists register their work and expected value on the Entry Form; especially fragile works or works requiring special handling must be indicated to the convenor.
IDENTIFICATION/LABELLING
Student’s will be asked to label their artwork when they drop it off. This will include the student’s name, home group or class group, title of work and selling price (hanging work) or bottom (standing work). Work which the student does not wish to sell must be clearly labelled ‘Not for Sale’.
PRESENTATION
2D Works must be at least A4 size and no more than 1.5m wide or tall when mounted. 3D Works must not exceed 50kg and must not exceed 1.5m in any dimension. Works must be suitable for safe indoor gallery display and must not be site specific. The Festival Committee retains the right to not display work. All 2D works must be securely mounted.
Entries must be mounted on either black or white cardboard. Work under glass or on stretched canvas must have a wire or cord securely attached to allow the picture to be hung on a hook. All work must be completely clean and dry when delivered. All 3D works must be stable and suitable for display. Work that is not mounted or not considered sturdy enough for display may not be exhibited.

HIGHLY COMMENDED AND ENCOURAGEMENT AWARDS
The number and nature of the highly commended and encouragement awards will be confirmed closer to the Festival. Previous awards included gift vouchers, stationery, art supplies and artistic/photographic tuition.
